Dala Horse Carving Workshop

Join us for an immersive one-day course where you'll be guided step-by-step through the entire process of creating your very own unique Dala Horse. The Dala Horse, a cherished symbol of Sweden, has a rich history. Traditionally, these charming horses were carved by men working in the forests during the long winter evenings. They would bring these beautifully crafted toys back to their villages, delighting the children. Over time, these little wooden horses from Dalarna became treasured objects in Swedish culture.

Initially simple in design, these wooden horses evolved as they were painted in vibrant colors, drawing inspiration from the floral patterns adorning the furniture and walls of the region. Now, you have the chance to try your hand at this traditional craft and create a piece of Swedish heritage.

What's Included

• Tools and Materials: All necessary tools and materials will be provided. No prior experience is required, making this workshop perfect for beginners and seasoned crafters alike.
• Refreshments: Throughout the day, we'll keep the kettle on and offer a selection of tea, coffee, and biscuits to keep you refreshed.

Course Details:

• Location: our craft studio near Marlborough, Wiltshire
• Duration: 9:30 am to 4:30 pm (half-hour lunch break)
• Lunch Break: We'll take a half-hour break for lunch, which you can enjoy by the scenic canal. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to visit our craft shop during this time.
• Course Fee: £75 a small booking fee may be added by Eventbrite
• Age Requirement: Minimum age 18 (younger students by arrangement)

We are situated near Marlborough in the heart of Wiltshire, Southwest England, with easy access from Bristol, Bath, Salisbury, Southampton, Chippenham, Swindon, and London. The closest railway station is Pewsey, approximately a 10-minute drive from our location.
